AboutRed Horizon is a documentary providing insight into the personal cost behind space travel and the lengths people are willing to go to for the betterment of humanity. Following the story of Natalie Lawler, a 38-year-old mother of two and one of one hundred people globally in the running to be the first human to set foot on Mars.
Said to be the biggest advancement in space exploration of this generation, the Mars One Mission is set to launch in 2026, sending four extraordinary human beings on a one-way trip to Mars. Their goal: to colonise and establish Mars as the next human settlement to finally make humans an interplanetary species. Natalie, a Brisbane high school teacher, born and raised in small-town rural Victoria has her sights set on the red planet and it is just within reach. She is ready and willing to leave everything comfortable and familiar about Earth behind for the desolate and unknown. With Natalie’s deep connection with the Earth and her family colliding with her ambition to colonise the red planet, Natalie must embark on a journey to cut all ties and say goodbye to Earth forever. Red Horizon examines the importance of family and relationships, and the sacrifices humans make to improve the lives of future generations. |
